Al Jazirah newspaper custom font
Al Jazirah decided to re-brand and re-design. It commissioned Boutros to design a new range of typefaces for the newspaper’s headlines and another range for body text.
The headline fonts fused traditional and contemporary design concepts keeping in line with Al Jazirah’s strategic approach of keeping up with the times while honoring cultural traditions. The typeface simplifies the calligraphic strokes of Naskh and widens the counters to allow more white space within and between characters, and it comes in three weights, regular, bold and extra bold. This same approach was used for the body text, which was designed to complement the headline face. Boutros JazirahText is a modern adaptation of the classical Naskh script and it was meticulously crafted for optimal readability in newspaper body text setting.
