Fighting piracy Emphasis on fonts piracy

This page is dedicated to fighting piracy of Arabic fonts and other type issues

Over the last decade we have found evidence of piracy of Arabic fonts committed by individuals, corporations, advertising agencies and hardware and software manufacturers (both local and international companies).

Throughout this time, we received no assistance from any organisation. On the contrary, we were told that Arabic fonts were of little concern. Furthermore, it was made clear to us that copying a typeface design, altering it and changing the name is not illegal. This attitude was also adopted by OEMs, despite the steps they take to prevent their own software from being copied.

We would be pleased to receive comments and ideas from any person or organisation interested in developing and improving standards in the Arabic type industry in the Middle East.
